Amanda Thornton, APRN OF THE YEAR

Caregiver, patient advocate, the voice of reason, guardian angel.  These are only a few of the roles a Nurse Practitioner becomes during his/her career.  They often become our friend – the one person we entrust with our deepest concerns – and their influence in our life is treasured.  Shared laughter and tears are often seen throughout their day as life-changing decisions are made. Their compassion and empathy are evident in their dedication and healing touch.

We take great pride in sharing news of the peer elected Baxter Regional Medical Center APRN of the Year award Amanda received and we are very proud and honored to have her working in our clinic.   Amanda always goes above and beyond what she is called to do.  Even though her job can be physically exhausting and emotionally draining at times, her patients always come first.  She not only strives to be excellent in her profession, but she also reaches out to many needs in our community, and strives to better the lives of those around her.

At this time, we would like to say “Thank you”.  Thank you for your dedication to your patients as well as our clinic.  Thank you for putting others needs before your own.  Thank you for guiding individuals with your knowledge and compassion.  Thank you for your empathetic ear and your wise advice.  Mother Teresa once wrote, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”  Amanda, you have touched so many lives with your influence and the ripples are evidence of a life well spent.  Thank you for casting your stone across the waters!!

Happy Nurse Practitioner’s week to Amanda and all her peers!
